When I first had kids, I wanted to read to them as much as I could. But all too often, I found it to be a painful ordeal. Many books were either too long or too boring for either me or my kids. 

So, I took matters into my own hands. I wrote a book series that kids AND parents would both enjoy. 

First, I had to find a topic that I was passionate about, and a loveable dog and the national parks seemed like an obvious choice. Next, I included all the elements I look for in a children's book. I knew it had to rhyme and be fun, silly, educational, and short. Finally, after locking down a talented illustrator to create fun characters and vibrant landscapes, I knew I was on to something. 

In the end, I'm happy to report that the books have accomplished what I originally set out to do. They've been enjoyed by children all across the world who have bought them online, at school events, dozens and dozens of locations throughout the US, and inside the national parks. Most important, my kids and I can all agree on a book at bedtime and they now love the national parks too.
